FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

For Your Information

HOW CAN I START WORKING WITH YOU?

You can start by either giving us a call at 610-229-9060 or scheduling a free discovery call at a time that works best for you. You can schedule that call here. These calls last no more than 10 minutes and allow us to make sure that we are a good fit for one another. During that call we can get you scheduled for your initial consultation in our East Norriton office or virtually via telehealth.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Yes. We are in network with many insurance plans including Aetna, Amerihealth, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Highmark, Independence Administrators, Independence Blue Cross, Keystone Health Plan East and Personal Choice.

Please note we do not participate with Medicare, Medicaid or United Health Care at this time, but are happy to provide you with a superbill receipt.

WILL INSURANCE COVER MY VISIT 100%?

Oftentimes, yes! Many insurance plans cover the cost of preventative care services like nutrition counseling, so you pay nothing out of pocket.

Occasionally there is a copay and sometimes visits are not covered or are subject to meeting your deductible first. If you have questions about what is covered and what is not, you can call the number on your insurance card and ask them the following questions:

  • Does my plan cover nutrition counseling (CPT codes are 97802 for an initial visit and 97803 for a follow up visit)?

  • How many sessions are covered?

  • Does my plan cover preventative services (diagnosis code Z71.3)?

  • Are visits covered only if they are medically necessary? Which diagnoses are covered?

  • Is there a copay or a deductible I need to meet?

  • Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Our practice's NPI is 1780037457.

Before you end your call, be sure to get a reference number for the conversation, the name of the representative and document the time and date. In case there is a problem processing your claim, you will want to refer to that call.

Any denied claims are then the patient's responsibility.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR MY INITIAL CONSULTATION?

Your dietitian will invite you to set up a secure profile in our patient portal, Healthie. There, you will find forms to complete prior to your initial consultation. You can also upload supporting documents such as blood work, food journals and medication/supplement lists. Simply upload them in the "Documents" tab in Healthie.

It is helpful to keep a food diary or log of what you had to eat or drink for at least 3 days. You will review this with your dietitian at your initial visit.

HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS?

An initial consultation may take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Most follow up appointments generally take 30 to 60 minutes. The individual appointments are tailored to your needs and goals, so appointment times may vary slightly.

WHY DON'T YOU ACCEPT MY INSURANCE?

If you have a plan which we cannot accept, such as Medicare, Medicaid or United Health Care, it is usually due to either the plans limited coverage of nutrition counseling or that participating with these insurance companies restricted us from providing the best and most individualized care.

Your insurance plan may still cover a portion or all of your appointment if you have one that offers out-of-network benefits. We would be happy to work with you, provide you with a superbill receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. However, we do not bill these insurance companies on your behalf.

I'M NOT IN PA. CAN YOU STILL SEE ME?

Some states have restrictions on who can be seen by a dietitian located in PA via telehealth. Currently we are able to see those located in Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia.
